Congratulations to Thunder Mountain Middle School for “closing gaps and demonstrating improvement among student groups identified for support”! The Washington State Board of Education selected 216 schools to honor for the new equity-focused awards program and we’re proud to have TMMS selected during the first-year of the awards program.

Principal Steve Stoker attributes the recognition to their focus on quality data paired with research-based interventions. He shared, “This recognition is a true testament to the hard work of our staff and students.”

The new recognition program focuses on measures to include both growth and achievement on academic indicators (proficiency, growth, graduation rate, English language progress) as well as school quality and student success measures such as regular attendance. The criteria are based on the Washington School Improvement Framework (WSIF) measures and focus on schools making significant gains in these areas.

Way to go Titan staff, students and families!
