High School Science Textbooks Recommended to School Board!

The Enumclaw High School Science Adoption Committee has been engaged since last January in a process that will result in new high school science curriculum being implemented during 2010-11!

The responsibilities of this Science Adoption Committee were to review the most recent state and national studies, carefully examine top-rated science programs, and then select the textbooks and instructional materials that best meet our students’ learning needs. The science programs ultimately selected must be approved by the Board of Directors, and then will be implemented next school year at Enumclaw High School.

The Science Adoption Committee will recommend to the Enumclaw School Board at their meeting on April 20, the following science textbooks be adopted for implementation in high school science courses in September, 2010:

Course Text Title Author Publisher Date
Physical Science Physical, Earth and Space Science:

Biology Holt Biology (NA) Holt 2008
A.P. Biology Biology Raven McGraw-Hill 2011
Chemistry Chemistry – Matter and Change Buthelezi Glencoe 2008
Physics Physics Wilson Addison-Wesley 2010

The School Board will consider and then formally vote to approve these curriculum recommendations at their regular meeting on Monday, May 17, 6:30 p.m., in the District Office Boardroom.

These recommended high school science curriculum materials are currently on public display at the Enumclaw School District Office, 2929 McDougall Ave., Enumclaw, WA, from April 5 – May 17, 2010.
