These students were a part of hundreds of string musicians from eight local high schools who performed for professional adjudicators, many of these students with an eye on advancing to the state level of competition. EHS was represented by seven soloists and eight ensembles who have been rehearsing for months and were well-prepared in all of their presentations. Six of the seven soloists received the highest rating of Superior.  Securing first place in the violin category, K. Dirks will represent the entire region at the state level competition at Central Washington University in Ellensburg in April. M. Jarvis is First Alternate in the viola category. Two of the four small ensembles received an Excellent rating and two received a Superior rating with the violin duet of K. Dirks and A. Hudon placing as 1st Alternate. Two of the large ensembles earned Excellent ratings and two received Superior ratings with the quintet K. Dirks (violin), A. Hudon (violin), A. Wolfe (violin), M. Jarvis (viola), and L. Lamm (cello) advancing with first place to the state level competition. One adjudicator remarked enthusiastically and repeatedly about the high quality of preparation and performance from all of the EHS performers and invited himself to the next school concert."
