STEM Expo All Set For Thursday 10.11.12!

From Sunday Evening News, 10.7.12:

The Enumclaw School District in partnership with the Enumclaw Schools Foundation will be hosting an event this Thursday (October 11) to promote the awareness of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) career pathways for our students. This year the committee titled the event “STEM is coming 10.11.12! Are you prepared?”

There will be three components to this Thursday’s activities.

    • A mobile training unit from Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) open for specific CTE classroom tours during the school day. It will be open for public tours beginning at 2:45. The unit will be located in the circular drive of the high school.
    • A joint Enumclaw Rotary and Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce business luncheon in the EHS Library beginning at 11:30
    • A STEM Expo is open from 4:00 – 7:00 in the EHS Commons. In addition to touring the AJAC mobile training unit, you can use robotics kits to build a terrestrial rover from the Museum of Flight, find out about STEM learning opportunities at EHS and our middle schools as well as meet local and regional business representatives who use STEM skills in their jobs, many related to the aerospace field. There will also be a classroom open at EHS to show the new technology equipment that is in our schools. The STEM Expo is free to all who attend.

Again, the goal of these components is to bring awareness of the skills needed to perform jobs from the featured exhibits and to ignite a passion for STEM related careers in the students in the Enumclaw School District. I do hope you will consider stopping by the STEM Expo on your way home on Thursday!

      Until next week, Happy Learning!
