Sunrise Elementary named School of Distinction!!

Sunrise Elementary School was named as a 2013 School of Distinction from The Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD), the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP), Phi Delta Kappa-Washington Chapter (PDK-WA), Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), Washington State ASCD and Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA).

The School of Distinction honor is awarded to schools for outstanding improvement in student achievement. Sunrise Elementary School is among only 55 other elementary schools across the state of Washington to receive this honor, representing about 5% of all elementary schools.

“I am so very proud and happy for the students, staff, parents and community of Sunrise Elementary. They have worked tirelessly to meet the needs of all students,” stated Enumclaw School District Superintendent Mike Nelson.

Mike Dunn, Superintendent of the Spokane ESD and leading this work for the AESD Superintendents stated, “The success and hard work of these highest improving schools across our state needs to be celebrated and shared in order to support improvement efforts across Washington and make this difference for all students. This is a testament to the staff , students, leaders, and communities serving these students.”

A regional awards ceremony will be held at the PSESD in Renton on November 12, at 5:00 pm.
