Byron Kibler is the district’s first Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) School. The Kibler staff has developed a high level of expertise in the past few years utilizing various support strategies for struggling learners. They have continued to actively look for effective support strategies to help all students learn.

Project GLAD is a model of professional development in the area of language acquisition and literacy. It uses clear, practical instructional strategies that promote student engagement and positive, effective interactions among students and between teachers and students. Each teacher participates in seven days of training, two days in August and five days in October.

The instructional strategies align with the district CEL-5D instructional framework and the TPEP (Teacher/Principal Evaluation Project) evaluation process. Project GLAD also ties into research-based instructional strategies: active engagement teaching/learning strategies, promotes language rich environment, and creates a building wide common strategy base for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
