Mimi Brown Named Kibler Elementary Principal



After a rigorous interview process that included a thorough application process, oral and written interviews in front of a large interview team, staff and community meetings and a final interview with Superintendent Mike Nelson and Director of Human Relations Stevi Berryhill, Mimi Brown, current Dean of Students at Clark Elementary School in the Issaquah School District has been named Byron Kibler Elementary Principal. Her official start date will be July 1, 2015.

Mimi comes to Byron Kibler Elementary after a successful teaching experience in the Kent School District in which she was known for her engaging and innovative teaching strategies. From 2004 - 2013, she was a literacy coach in the both the Kent and Issaquah School Districts. Since 2013, she has been the Dean of Students at Clark Elementary. Mimi has been trained in the Lucy Calkins Writing Program and GLAD program, both of which are used at Byron Kibler Elementary.

During reference calls, one common remark was, "Mimi is amazing! The students, staff and students love her!" Mimi is excited to join the staff at Kibler Elementary and become an active part of our community.
