TMMS Students Visit Nation's Capital

Sixteen students from Thunder Mountain Middle School voluntarily spent five days of their Spring Break visiting the nation’s capital with teacher Michael Firnkoess and two parent volunteers. While they were there, they visited the WWII Memorial when a group of veterans was visiting the memorial thanks to a non-profit organization called Honor Flight, which flies veterans to Washington, DC for this purpose. In a show of respect and honor, our students took the initiative and shook the veterans’ hands, thanking them for their service. One man, who was pushing his father in a wheelchair, broke down crying and said that no one had ever thanked his dad, who served in WWII. They made a big difference to these veterans, more so than they probably will ever realize. We truly have amazing kids!
