Advanced Sports Medicine Busy Competing Over Spring Break

Angela Bushmaker is our high school Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine Teacher. Her students were very busy over spring break contending in several competitions and have done extremely well!

The first weekend of spring break our Advanced Sports Medicine students competed at the St. Francis Competition in Pasadena, CA. In this competition they placed fourth in the Small Schools division out of 25 teams. This qualifies them to compete in a national competition in May! B. Zeman-Witzel also finished third out of 37 candidates for High School Sports Medicine Student of the Year! Ms. Bushmaker said they received many complements on how well our students represented Enumclaw High School and demonstrated what a high quality program we have!

Their second event was the WCTSMA State Competition held in Tri-Cities, April 21-23rd. They competed in over eight categories and finished second in small schools and seventh overall out of 49 schools! B. Zeman-Witzel finished 11th in the Varsity Sports Medicine Category. Both T. Fry (Exercise Physiology) and E. Drozynski (Medical Terminology) finished 18th in their respective categories.

Enumclaw Sports Medicine has always had a strong leadership presence in the WCTSMA and this year was no exception. J. Lutchkoff completed his WCTSMA Student Presidency and helped run a great event. T. Fry was the WCTSMA Treasurer and also completed his term. H. Cunningham was this year's State Officer student liaison and will be returning to serve as a state officer again next year! She will be essential to creating opportunities for Sports Medicine students to network and practice the skills that they work so hard to gain at WCTSMA events in the year to come.

Congratulations to all our students!
