Honoring Veterans' Day

Back

11/10/2016

Our schools throughout the district honored veterans and active military this week during assemblies. Examples include Southwood Elementary’s assembly where scouts presented the flags, Magic Strings students performed, students sang, students assembled “America’s White Table”, flowers were given, and more, all part of a respectful, solemn, and touching tribute honoring our veterans.

At Enumclaw Middle School, some of Mr. Karkainen’s leadership students read their "What America Means to Me" essays, two parent veterans of EMS students spoke about their experience, students sang "American the Beautiful" and "Star Spangled Banner", a slideshow was presented of EMS family veterans and active duty as well as veterans from High Point Village in Enumclaw as well as an opportunity for students and staff to recognize family members who served by standing during the military marches that were played at the assembly. (Leadership students also gave a veterans' presentation that was similar at High Point Village on Tuesday.)

We want to take the opportunity district wide to thank veterans and active duty for their service and sacrifices.
