All Aboard the PD Express!

Back

12/20/2016

Elementary staff gathered for an evening of Professional Development at Kibler Elementary after a day of teaching. Principals greeted the teachers and staff members with a holiday theme full of details and treats, along with a clear message that students and leaders believe in our teaching staff. The large group gathering was followed by break out sessions that were offered on a variety of topics - technology, differentiated instruction, math, brain research, and more - for District staff lead by District staff. The evening was the second in the series.

We appreciate the time and commitment that our teachers and leaders dedicate to creating success for our students. We are also grateful for the time and commitment that our families and students choose to share with us. Happy holidays!

Below is the script for the video:

Mike Nelson, Enumclaw School District Superintendent
This afternoon we have all of our elementary staff meeting at Kibler Elementary to have a PD Express, which is a Professional Development Express here at Kibler. The amount of energy that these teachers have brought at the end of a work day, working with their 25-30 students in a classroom, coming here after work to have professional development is so amazing.

Daryl Miller, Enumclaw High School Drama teacher
For this train to move, you have to believe. What do you believe in?

Mimi Brown, Byron Kibler Elementary Principal
I believe in teachers and staff that greet kids everyday with a smile that are smiling even at the end of the day.

Gerrie Garton, Black Diamond Elementary Principal
I believe in staff that kneel down, look a child in the eye, and let them know they care about them each day.

Andy Means, Southwood Elementary Principal
I believe in a staff that believe in each student before the students even believe in themselves.

Kyle Fletcher, Sunrise Elementary Principal
I believe in staff who as a collective are stronger than the individual.

Scott Meyer, Westwood Elementary Principal
I believe in teachers and staff that come to a training for an hour and a half after a long day.

Daryl Miller, Enumclaw High School Drama teacher
All aboard! With your powers of belief combined, we can move! Refreshments!

Mike Nelson, Enumclaw School District Superintendent
We served hot cocoa and cookies and now they’re walking to their classes across Kibler Elementary in the different classrooms. It’s going to be a great evening!

Andy Means, Southwood Elementary Principal
In this room right now, we’ve got some of our best tech-savvy teachers and they are meeting one-on-one with teachers that have questions about all sorts of different devices to figure out how to utilize technology in their classes.

Keri Marquand, Student Support Services Director
I just visited a math class where they were comparing doing double digit multiplication with a worksheet and the same double digit multiplication with a math game.

Andy Means, Southwood Elementary Principal
I hope they come away with one action step that gets them excited about bringing back to the classroom to figure out how they can impact their kids.

Keri Marquand, Student Support Services Director
And I hope that they will try something in the next three days that they learned today.
