ESD Welcomes Aaron Lee to Lead Enumclaw High School

Aaron Lee Mr. Aaron Lee comes to Enumclaw High School with a valuable breadth of teaching, administrative and leadership experience in nearby communities. As the current Executive Director for Learning and Instructional Leadership in Orting School District, Aaron provides vision to the instructional program and supports teachers in developing the skills needed to provide high quality instruction. He began his teaching career in 1995 as a Special Education teacher then moved to the middle level teaching Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies classes then continued to the high school level teaching AP courses in Economics and History. Aaron’s other roles include Principal, Assistant Principal and Director of Career and Technical Education in Orting School District. His experience leading teams towards curriculum and instructional goals while engaging students, parents and staff provide valuable background skills for his new leadership role in Enumclaw School District.

The interview process was rigorous and thorough. A 14 member team comprised of EHS teachers, staff, parents and students along with the District Human Relations Director and Superintendent interviewed five top applicants from the initial pool. The interview team nominated two final candidates, who spent an evening meeting with EHS staff, students, parents and community in a town hall type meeting sharing their backgrounds and answering questions. After second level interviews, Mr. Lee was offered the position to lead the EHS Hornets as Principal.

Current EHS Principal Jill Burnes will transition to her new role as Director of Teaching and Learning beginning July 1, 2017. Aaron Lee will begin that same day. Please join us in welcoming our new team member!
