HB 1322 And Scoliosis Screening

On April 9, 2009, Governor Gregoire signed house bill 1322, effectively rescinding the law (WAC 246-762) that requires school districts to provide scoliosis screening. As a result, Enumclaw School District will no longer routinely screen all 5th, 7th, and 9th graders for spinal deformity.

This screening should now be performed by your child's health care provider, so it is important that he or she receive regularly scheduled physical exams. If you have a concern that your student may have scoliosis and does not have a health care provider, contact your school's health room assistant or professional and they will be happy to schedule a time when your student can be screened privately.
