New Assistant Principal at Enumclaw High School

Susan Schmidt is returning to our district after spending the past four years in the Kent School District. Susan worked at Enumclaw High School as the Career Specialist for two years, and then went back to school completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Washington in 1988.

She taught Language Arts for several years at Enumclaw High School and at Sehome High School in Bellingham. In 1995 Susan was awarded a Master of Education in Organization and Staff Development from the University of Washington. In 1999, she went to Kentwood High School as their Library Media Specialist and two years ago moved into the position of Student Academic Achievement Coordinator. In this position, Susan provided leadership for school improvement initiatives. She consulted, coached and collaborated with teachers to improve instruction. This past year she also completed her administrative internship.

Susan embodies what it means to be a teacher leader. She has served in numerous leadership positions over the years. She brings extensive knowledge and skill in the area of staff development. She understands leadership, change and instruction. We are fortunate to have her joining the high school staff.
