Announcing a Multi-age Choice Program at Westwood Elementary School!

Westwood Elementary has offered a multi-age program to families for many years. They are now pleased to open the enrollment for a multi-age classroom to students throughout the Enumclaw School District.

Currently, two multi-age classrooms exist at Westwood, one class for students in 1st through 3rd grades and one class for students in 2nd and 3rd grades. There are a few openings for both of these classrooms next year. Presently, most of the openings in the 1st -2nd -3rd grade class are for students currently in kindergarten. Most of the openings in our 2nd -3rd grade class are for students currently in 1st grade.

Students remain with the teacher and their classmates more than one year. Many of our students and families at Westwood have enjoyed the long-term relationship with a teacher and lack of transitions this program provides.

Students in our multi-age classrooms receive the same curriculum and are evaluated on the same standards as all students in the Enumclaw School District. All of our classrooms match instruction to the individual needs of the students. Multi-age classroom children develop friendships with students of different ages and develop leadership skills with younger children.

Comparison of a traditional year-long class to a multiage class:
