Magic Strings Program

May 25, 2006

The Enumclaw School District self contained Magic Strings Program for students in grades 2,3,4, and 5, is currently housed at Southwood Elementary. Students in this program participate in daily practice and lessons on the violin or cello, integrated into their daily schedule. Enrollment in the program takes place in the spring, and the entry point for most students is second grade. Almost all students continue in the program through grade five, although a few openings sometimes occur in the other grades. Applications can be submitted any time beyond spring enrollment to Susan Arbury, Principal of Southwood if you would like your child on our waiting list. An application can be printed and completed from our website by clicking here (pdf), or you can obtain one from Southwood by calling the school or coming by.

Please also see our Magic Strings Brochure (pdf) for answers to common questions about the program.

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these. --George Washington Carver
