Enumclaw High School Principal Selection Input

The following letter from Superintendent Nelson and the input form were mailed along with a letter from Mr. Dorn to all EHS students on Friday, February 8.

February 8, 2008

Dear EHS Families,

As you have read in the enclosed letter, EHS Principal David Dorn has accepted another administrative position. I am thrilled for him and his wife, Barbara as they begin this new journey together! Doesn’t it sound like an amazing adventure? I have appreciated his leadership at Enumclaw High School for the past two years and I hope you will join me in wishing him the very best!

The reason for writing to each of you is to share David’s news and to share how you can help us in the selection of a new Principal at Enumclaw High School. In addition to our two letters to you, you will see a one-page sheet that will share the timeline for filling this position. You will also see a list of proficiencies that were listed on the job posting two years ago when David was hired. This list was generated by staff and community members and synthesized into the phrases that you see.

I would like to invite each of you to take a moment to look at the list that was used two years ago and circle 2-3 proficiencies that you feel are the most important. In doing this, I am looking to see if a few proficiencies emerge as a priority for our next leader at Enumclaw High School. If this is true, I will make sure that either those proficiencies are highlighted or that we develop good questions that would help us acquire this information from potential candidates.

At the bottom of the sheet, you will see open space in which you can share additional proficiencies or give me any comments that you might have. Please know that you have my full commitment that we will find and hire an incredible Principal at Enumclaw High School! I look forward to hearing from many of you!

In partnership with you,

Mike Nelson
Superintendent
