What’s Happening at Kibler Elementary

A Moment with Mimi

We're excited for another year of learning at Byron Kibler Elementary! As a staff we are focused on building a solid foundation in academics and social-emotional (behavior) skills for our 450 students.

We kicked off the year with our 3rd Annual Bear Week!
During the second week of school we focused on our school-wide expectations:

  • Monday we highlighted lunchroom expectations
  • Tuesday our counselor, Tina Hickcox, reviewed Kelso’s Choice at all three lunches. “Kelso’s Choices” is our school wide curriculum to help students solve small problems.
  • Wednesday, our wonderful recess paraeducators led each grade level through three stations to review playground expectations and safety measures.
  • Thursday classroom teachers guided their students through expectations in other areas in our building through a photo scavenger hunt.
  • Friday we came together for our first assembly of the year. Kibler parent, Carol Decker, shared about setting and achieving goals. All those scavenger hunt photos were enjoyed in a slide show.

Teachers have reviewed and practiced our School-Wide Values with students:

  • Show Respect
  • Solve Problems
  • Make Good Decisions

As we entered October, all kindergarten classes learned our chant: “Kibler is a hands-off school.” Using Incredible Hulk hands made this moment memorable. This chant will be spreading throughout our school as the month continues. Thanks for all you do to support your student. We so appreciate your reinforcement of this learning. Here are some discussion starters for the car, the dinner table, or before a bedtime story:

  • Ask your student about our Kibler Values
  • Can they tell you how they’ve demonstrated them today?

With Great Kibler Pride!
Mimi

Thank You for coming to our Open House in September! Hope to see you at PTA’s Movie Night: Hotel Transylvania II October 27th at 6:30pm. *students must be accompanied by an adult *costumes may be worn!

Join Us...

There are so many ways to support our kids:

  • Listen to a student read. We could use your help at any time of the day.
  • Help with a PTA project from home or at school: we are currently looking for someone to organize Kibler Spiritwear.
  • We have new books to use with students but need help with unpacking and organizing.

We welcome you, a family member, or neighbor to join us for an hour, a day, or more! Want to know more? Email: mimi_brown@enumclaw.wednet.edu

LEND A HAND! - Volunteer Paperwork

We’d love to have you volunteer at school! In order to do that, go out to recess with your student, or go on a field trip, you need to fill out at Volunteer Application Cut off to apply to be a volunteer or field trip chaperone is April 30th.

From Our Health Room

Per state law, students may not bring medications to school. All medications must in their original packaging, with a pharmacy label if applicable, and be signed in by a guardian to our health room. We are looking for health screening volunteers for a day or two in November. Email tina_rosenthal@enumclaw.wednet.edu for more information.

Kibler Start Time

8:45 am first bell to enter classrooms.

As with all Enumclaw Elementary schools, there is no supervision before 8:45am.

9:00 am start of school bell, students arriving after this bell are tardy and must check-in at the office.

Monday through Thursday school dismisses at 3:30 pm.
Fridays school is out at 2:15 pm.

WE NEED YOUR HELP...
Intercom calls into the classrooms interrupts teaching and learning. We are experiencing a high volume during the last half hour of the day. We care about each minute of learning and would appreciate your help in minimizing interruptions. THANKS SO MUCH for helping us with these important details.
