Welcome to Enumclaw High School

Principal's Message

Jill Burnes photoEnumclaw High School is a 9th-12th grade high school which maintains a long-standing and proud tradition of providing a wide variety of quality academic, vocational, and extracurricular program that meet the needs of the students in our community. Our school boasts of WASL writing scores near the 93% passing level and WASL reading score at the 88% passing level, an indication of the quality of EHS's educational programming.

Enumclaw High School's vision is to provide students with personalized assistance as the student navigates through their high school experience to successfully transition into a high school course of study and education. We want our students to explore post high school education opportunities at a 4 year university, 2 year college, technical school, focused occupational experience or a career pathway of their choice. Our goal is to provide students with the necessary academic skills and the capability to be a "self" learner in order to be successful at their next learning opportunity.

To assist in our goal EHS is divided into 4 small learning communities. Our four small learning communities will focus this school year on two goals. The first goal is to ensure that 90% of all 9th grade students are on track for graduation at the completion of their 9th grade school year. Our second goal is to ensure that all students have a significant relationship with an adult within their small learning community to assist that student in high school program navigation, advocate for the student as needed and assist in student interventions designed to ensure student success at EHS.

In addition to our small learning community school structure, EHS offers a wealth of academic programming. Students may participate in Advanced Placement course, University of Washington course offered at EHS, EHS/Green River Community partnership CoHort Program and the Running Start Program; all of these programs are designed to provide EHS students with college level course work. In addition, Enumclaw High School is developing Programs of Study in our Career and Technical course structure with many of these courses offering "Tech Prep" college credit.

For the past few years, we have been deeply engaged in the work of improving the structure of our school. The innovative programs that comprise our school improvement plan provide our students with more of what they need to reach their fullest potential and be successful in the future - a more rigorous, challenging environment for our students who are academically capable and highly motivated; a more supportive environment for our students with special physical and learning needs; and a more relevant experience for our students who are disconnected and currently falling through the cracks of our school.

We are excited about the continued improvements happening at Enumclaw High School and invite parents and community members to directly participate in the educational process by visiting campus, volunteering in classrooms, working on committees and special projects, and helping with our extracurricular activities.

If you would like to get involved in some manner at our school, please call Jill Burnes, Principal, at (360)802-7669. Your active involvement in the education of our students is the most important factor that will enable them to achieve success both now and in the future. Our children certainly deserve nothing less!
