Southwood Elementary Bell Schedule

This schedule is structured to create large blocks of uninterrupted time for deep, conceptual teaching and learning with as few interruptions as possible.

Bells are used sparingly to indicate the beginning of the day, and the end of a recess. This is to minimize interruptions for those to whom the bells do not apply.

8:45: Bell to Come In (Students here for breakfast must go directly to the gym before going to class)

9:00: Instruction Begins

9:05: Tardy

Morning Recess

10:30-10:43: First Recess 606 Boline, 605 Beals,

601 Markquart, 602 Johnson, 506 Flores, 406 Davis, 405 Stockwell, 401 Sadler on Tues.

BELL: 10:43/10:45

10:45-10:58: Second Recess , 505 Peterson, 501 Lindley, 403, Landry, 402, Madsen, 503 Emerson, 502 Stone, 401 Sadler Thurs.

BELL: 10:58/11:00

11:30: K and Preschool Dismissal—NO BELL

Lunch and Recess

Bells are for recess ending only.

12:15-12:40 Recess 12:40-1:05 Lunch

Madsen, Landry, Stockwell, Davis, Stone, Emerson, Sadler Tuesday, Thursday

BELL 12:38: First Recess Over, Students line up by class

BELL 12:40 Switch lunch and recess

BELL to end 12:40 lunch: 1:05

1:00: PM Preschool Commences—No Bell

Teachers please meet your classes as they file out of the lunchroom on their way back to class.

12:20-12:40 lunch 12:40-1:10 Recess

BELL 1: 10 Second Recess Over, Students line up

Teachers pick up students from the playground at 1:10.

3:15: Transfer Bus Bell

Preschool Dismissal is 3:20

No Dismissal Bell. Official dismissal time is 3:25.

Bell: 3:25 to dismiss

Note: students should not come to bus or parent pickup before the bell rings!
