WASL Results

Dear Parents and Community Members!

We are pleased to post to our website this historical look at the state W.A.S.L. test scores of our students in the Enumclaw School District. This information includes our grade-level progress on the Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Science sections of the W.A.S.L. for the past five years, as well as overall state achievement levels during this same time frame.

Our students, families, and staff have much to be proud of related to our Spring, 2007, W.A.S.L. test scores! (In PDF format)

In writing, our students demonstrated an extremely strong performance as both the 7th and 10th grade students posted highest scores ever in our district, including a 92.9% pass rate for our high school students!

While our district reading scores were somewhat mixed in comparison to scores from last year, overall grade-level reading performance remains impressive. All grade levels, with the exception of 4th grade, performed at a higher level than the state average. In addition, our 3rd grade and 7th grade students posted highest scores ever in our district!

Strong improvements were made in our science performance at all grade levels, especially in the 8th grade. Our 5th and 8th grade students posted highest ever scores in our district!

We are beginning to make progress in mathematics. Three grade levels showed extremely strong math score improvements, while all other grade levels remained unchanged or slightly improved. In addition, our 3rd-5th-6th-8th grade students posted highest ever scores in our district! Even with our progress in mathematics, this area remains our greatest challenge for immediate improvement and must continue to be the highest learning priority in our school district.

I hope this information contributes to your deeper understanding of the learning progress of our students. Thanks for your continued support of our work on behalf of our children!
