Holt Mathematics for Middle/High Schools Recommended to School Board!
The Enumclaw School District K-12 Math Adoption Committee has been engaged since last December in a process that will result in new math curriculum being implemented in our elementary schools, middle schools and high school during 2009-10!
The responsibilities of this K-12 Math Adoption Committee are to review the most recent state and national math research studies, carefully examine top-rated math programs, and then select the curricula that best meets our students' learning needs. The math programs ultimately selected by our K-12 Adoption Committee must be approved by the Board of Directors, and then will be implemented next school year in all of our district schools.
The K-12 Math Adoption Committee recently recommended to the Enumclaw School Board at their meeting on April 20, 2009, that the Holt Mathematics text series be implemented at the middle schools and high school in September, 2009. In addition, the K-12 Math Adoption Committee will soon recommend either Math Expressions or Everyday Math for implementation in our elementary schools next year.
The School Board will consider and formally vote to approve these elementary, middle school and high school math curriculum recommendations at their next regular meeting on May 18, 2009.
The high school and middle school Holt Mathematics, and the elementary Math Expressions and Everyday Math curriculum materials are currently on public display at the Enumclaw School District Office, 2929 McDougall Ave, from April 21-May 18, 2009.
