Research shows that the earlier intervention is provided, the better the outcome. Children with delays in communication, behavior, cognition, and motor skills benefit from services designed to give them strategies for overcoming these challenges. Early intervention replaces fear with action and empowers families and caregivers with the knowledge to help their children. The Birth to 5 center exists to provide these services for the Enumclaw and Black Diamond communities. Child Find screening, testing and services are always free.
What is the purpose of Child Development Screening?

Child Development Screening Procedures
Our team will set you up with a kit you can take home and work on with your child. Items in the kit screen for communication, behavior, cognition, fine motor skills and gross motor skills. There is also a questionnaire where you can fill in additional information about your child and his or her experiences. When you return the kit, our Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist will review it to get a better picture of your child’s strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations about which areas to evaluate further.
Parents of children birth to five years of age who have questions or concerns about their child's development are encouraged to contact Stacy Lucas at 360.802.7860.
Can your child do these things?
If you note that your child cannot perform some of these at the applicable age, it could indicate that your child is a candidate for screening.
