Enumclaw School District uses an interface called Skylert between Skyward, our student information system, and School Messenger, the primary app we use to bulk call (robocall), email, and text parents/guardians and district staff.  

Skylert settings (which are accessible within the Family Access module of Skyward) allow parents/guardians to control communication preferences (i.e. opt in or opt out) for phone numbers and email addresses where school related messages might be sent.   Below is a screenshot showing a matrix with the possible types of broadcasts across the top and contact numbers and email addresses down the side.  

The SMS (text) option is enabled as a valid delivery method for General Broadcasts sent by School Messenger. With this change, the default Skylert behavior is to have the text message numbers for a student’s contacts opt in to receive General text messages when they are included in a broadcast. If parents and guardians find that they are receiving the same message in too many forms, they should login to Family Access and change the settings on the Skylert tab.
