Dear Black Diamond Families,
We had a wonderful first week back at school! Our halls were filled with energy as students reunited with old friends, made new ones, and learned our school-wide expectations.
Next week, I will be visiting each classroom for a special read-aloud of the book Little Tree. Our school theme this year is "Let go to grow," inspired by this wonderful story.
To bring this theme to life, staff and students are creating a giant paper tree in our front hallway. Every member of our school community will fill out a leaf sharing their personal goal: "I will grow by..." I am so excited to watch all of our students flourish and grow throughout this school year!
Next week, we officially welcome our incoming Kindergartners! Having our 1st through 5th graders back this week was a fantastic way for them to practice our school expectations—now they are ready to lead by example and show our new Kindergartners the ropes.
This week was filled with so many bright smiles, and I am overflowing with gratitude to be part of this special school community.
A Quick Tip for Home: The first week of school brings a lot of excitement, and you might notice your children are extra tired this weekend. Please know this is completely normal as they adjust back to full school schedules and routines!
Thank you so much for your patience as we roll out our new dismissal procedures. Dismissal always takes a bit longer during the first few days, but we are already shaving time off each afternoon! To ensure the best experience for everyone, I am currently consulting with the Black Diamond Police Department to explore additional traffic pattern options. Our top priority is making sure every single student and family arrives and leaves campus safely.
