EARLY LEARNING
Between the ages of birth and five years old, brain growth is phenomenal. Supporting families in supporting their children’s learning at this stage in their lives is important to our District, so that all children may start school on an even playing field. To this end, the Enumclaw School District currently offers the following services:
The Birth to Five Center provides a community-based facility where families and their young children are supported and provided with positive learning experiences in the Enumclaw School District.
Child Find screenings help identify children ages 3-5 who may have developmental delays and need early intervention services to experience success in school. More information is available on our Child Find webpage.
Our developmental preschool program focuses on individualized programs and group activities that help children ages 3-5. Classes are taught by trained special education personnel. Children qualify for Developmental Preschool through the Child Find process (see above).
A parent or guardian may request an exemption for a child whose 5th birthday falls after August 30 (the cutoff for Kindergarten) and by November 1st of the upcoming school year. More information is available on our Early Entry web page.
The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is Washington's pre-kindergarten program serving at-risk three and four-year-old children and their families.
TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN
Our Transitional Kindergarten program is a free, full-day pre-kindergarten experience for children entering Kindergarten the next school year. The program focuses on basic academic and social-emotional skills to help students have a smoother transition to Kindergarten. Space is limited, and an application process and interview are part of the selection process.
