SUN Bucks is Back to Support Students Over the Summer
UN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT, is a federal program that supports families who lose access to free school meals over the summer months. Families will receive an allotment of $120 for each eligible child to help cover the cost of groceries when school is out of session. Similar to SNAP (Basic Food), SUN Bucks can be used to buy food at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other locations.
SUN Bucks works in tandem with the Free Summer Meals program to support families when school meals are unavailable.
Who is eligible: Eligibility for SUN Bucks is based on household income or participation in other public assistance programs, such as free school meals, SNAP (Basic Food/EBT) and TANF. You can learn if your child is eligible by using this online screening tool.
Benefits: Each eligible child will receive $120 to purchase groceries during the summer months. These funds will be distributed via an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card, which can be used like a debit card at participating grocery stores and retailers.
How to enroll: While school is still in session, make sure you have filled out a Free and Reduced-Price Meals application. Families deemed eligible through this form will automatically receive SUN Bucks.
Applications are available in several ways: at all school offices, at https://wwe.enumclaw.wednet.edu/o/esd/page/free-and-reduced, and securely online through Family Access.
