ESD is seeking the next Principal of Black Diamond Elementary.
We invite families, staff, and community members to participate in the Black Diamond Elementary Principal Finalist Interviews on June 3, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at Black Diamond Elementary School.
Join the Process
Finalist interviews are open to the public, and community feedback is a valued part of the selection process. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from candidates and share input that will help inform the district’s decision.

Principal Interview Finalists
Douglas Ouellette
Doug has dedicated more than two decades to supporting students, staff, and school communities through leadership roles at the school and district levels. Currently serving as the Director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for the Puyallup School District, he leads districtwide efforts focused on student achievement, instructional excellence, and equitable support systems. Throughout his career as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district leader, Doug has been recognized for building collaborative school cultures, strengthening partnerships with families, and improving student outcomes through data-informed decision-making and strong instructional leadership.
Passionate about creating welcoming and inclusive learning environments, Doug believes that strong schools are built on trust, shared purpose, and meaningful relationships. He is known for his collaborative approach, commitment to student success, and dedication to working alongside students, families, and staff to ensure every child feels valued, supported, challenged, and inspired to learn. Doug is excited about the opportunity to serve the Black Diamond community and continue fostering a positive school culture where every student can thrive.
Katy Gibson
Building strong relationships and creating supportive learning environments have been at the heart of Katy Gibson’s work throughout her career in education. With more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and acting principal, Katy currently serves as Assistant Principal at Opstad and North Bend Elementary Schools. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, positive energy, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Throughout her career, Katy has led professional learning, supported school improvement initiatives, facilitated student support systems, and partnered closely with staff and families to ensure every student has the opportunity to grow and thrive. She believes that strong schools are built on hope, connection, and meaningful relationships, and she works to create welcoming learning environments where students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.
Known for her genuine care for others, collaborative spirit, and dedication to shared problem-solving, Katy prioritizes listening and partnership as the foundation for strong school communities. She is passionate about supporting both academic achievement and social-emotional growth and is committed to building school cultures where every child feels safe, included, and empowered to reach their full potential. Katy is excited about the opportunity to partner with the Black Diamond Elementary community to build on its strengths and support the success of every student.
Lindsay Henry
As a district leader committed to instructional excellence and student success, Lindsay Henry has spent her career helping schools create the conditions for every learner to thrive. Currently serving as Executive Director of Teaching & Learning for Tahoma School District, she leads districtwide efforts focused on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student support systems. Throughout her career in teaching, instructional coaching, school improvement, and district leadership, Lindsay has been recognized for building collaborative teams, strengthening instructional practices, and creating systems that support academic growth and success for all students.
Lindsay believes that strong schools are built through relationships, trust, and partnership. She is dedicated to creating school communities where every student feels known, supported, challenged, and celebrated, and where staff, families, and students feel valued, connected, and empowered to thrive. She values authentic collaboration with families and staff and believes that when people feel welcomed and connected, students are able to grow and succeed.
