The Enumclaw School District celebrated this year’s retirees on Monday evening during a gathering filled with laughter, some tears, and deep appreciation for many years of dedicated service.

Collectively, this year’s retirees have provided 607 years of service to our students, families, district and community. Their careers represent decades of teaching, mentoring, counseling, coaching, transporting, feeding, supporting and caring for students across Enumclaw Schools.

This year’s retirees have served in classrooms, school offices, cafeterias, buses, athletic programs, grounds, custodial services and district leadership. Each has contributed in meaningful ways to the daily life of our schools and to the experiences of generations of students.

Jaime Arroyo, 25 years of service

Jaime served as a custodian at Westwood Elementary, where he became a beloved and trusted presence known for his care for students, staff and the school community.

Becky Barboza, 28 years of service

Becky served the district in transportation and custodial services, bringing dependability, resilience and a strong work ethic to every role she held.

Elizabeth Borgmann, 5 years of service

Elizabeth served as a Transitional Kindergarten teacher at the Birth to Five Center, where she nurtured young learners through creativity, exploration and developmentally appropriate learning.

Rebecca Bowen, 10 years of service

Rebecca served as a school counselor at Southwood Elementary, supporting students, families and staff with compassion, wisdom and a deep commitment to student well-being.

Ramona Bray, 26 years of service

Ramona served in several district roles, including facilities, school office support and human resources, where she became known as an organized, trusted and supportive colleague.

Jill Burnes, 26 years of service

Jill served Enumclaw Schools in many leadership roles, including principal and assistant principal, director, deputy superintendent and interim superintendent, leaving a lasting impact through her service to students, staff and the community.

Jackie Carel, 41 years of service

Jackie dedicated her entire teaching career in Enumclaw to Westwood Elementary and also served for 36 years as head volleyball coach at Enumclaw High School. Jackie’s commitment to education, student leadership, and extracurricular involvement has left a meaningful legacy throughout the school community.

Karina Cooper, 19 years of service

Karina served as a paraeducator at Thunder Mountain Middle School and Enumclaw High School, supporting students in independent living programs with compassion, patience and care.

Diane DalSanto, 36 years of service

Diane served as a 1st grade teacher and Intervention Specialist at Sunrise Elementary, helping countless young learners build strong academic foundations in a caring classroom environment.

Amy French, 19 years of service

Amy served as a Resource and ILC teacher at Byron Kibler Elementary and Enumclaw High School, supporting students with dedication, advocacy and encouragement.

Sherrie Harderson, 32 years of service

Sherrie served as an elementary teacher at Kibler Elementary, teaching multiple grade levels and helping students build confidence, skills and readiness for the next stage of learning.

Kim Hatzenbeler, 29 years of service

Kim served as a Spanish and MLL teacher at Enumclaw High School, enriching students’ lives through language learning, cultural understanding, leadership and student support.

Tracy Holyan, 19 years of service

Tracy served as Child Nutrition Services Supervisor, supporting students and staff through her leadership, expertise and commitment to nutritious, high-quality meals.

Laura Johnson, 24 years of service

Laura served as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Southwood Elementary, where she inspired students through creativity, compassion, music, mentoring and a lifelong love of learning.

Nicole Jones, 21 years of service

Nicole is recognized with gratitude for 21 years of service to the Enumclaw School District and for the difference she has made in the lives of students, families and colleagues.

Sandra Marchione, 24 years of service

Sandra served as a paraeducator, providing steady support to students and staff throughout her years with Enumclaw Schools.

Debbie Monstad, 25 years of service

Debbie is recognized with gratitude for 25 years of service to the Enumclaw School District and for her contributions to students, staff and the broader school community.

Kim Patrick, 28 years of service

Kim served as a 3rd grade teacher at Kibler Elementary, where she was known for her instructional leadership, mentorship and commitment to helping students succeed.

Jenny Pugh, 18 years of service

Jenny served Enumclaw Schools as an English teacher, girls’ soccer coach and athletic director, strengthening student experiences through academics, athletics and school spirit.

Sherry Qualls, 28 years of service

Sherry served in the transportation department as a bus driver, building lasting connections with students and families while helping students travel safely to and from school.

Burt Rathbun, 32 years of service

Burt served as a custodian at Enumclaw High School, supporting students and staff behind the scenes through his reliability, work ethic and pride in maintaining safe, welcoming spaces.

Trudi Schipper, 30 years of service

Trudi served as a paraeducator and secretary, supporting students, families and staff with kindness, reliability and a welcoming presence.

Shawn Scott, 32 years of service

Shawn served at Thunder Mountain Middle School, including many years as office manager, providing steady leadership, organization and care in support of school operations.

Vicky Timko, 13 years of service

Vicky served as a CTE teacher at Enumclaw Middle School, where she also mentored new teachers and coached robotics, helping students develop creativity and problem-solving skills.

Troy Whitten, 5 years of service

Troy served as a groundskeeper, district courier and operations support professional, helping schools run safely, smoothly and efficiently.

Bettina Wolthuis, 12 years of service

Bettina is recognized with gratitude for 12 years of service to the Enumclaw School District and for her contributions to students, staff and schools.

Together, these retirees represent a remarkable legacy of service. Their work has shaped classrooms, supported school communities, strengthened district programs and made a lasting difference for generations of students.
