Katy Gibson Selected as Principal of Black Diamond Elementary
After an extensive search, vetting, and interview process, Enumclaw School District is happy to announce Katy Gibson has been selected as Black Diamond Elementary Principal, beginning July 1, 2026.
Building strong relationships and creating supportive learning environments have been at the heart of Katy Gibson’s work throughout her career in education. With more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and acting principal, Katy currently serves as Assistant Principal at Opstad and North Bend Elementary Schools. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, positive energy, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Throughout her career, Katy has led professional learning, supported school improvement initiatives, facilitated student support systems, and partnered closely with staff and families to ensure every student has the opportunity to grow and thrive. She believes that strong schools are built on hope, connection, and meaningful relationships, and she works to create welcoming learning environments where students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.
Known for her genuine care for others, collaborative spirit, and dedication to shared problem-solving, Katy prioritizes listening and partnership as the foundation for strong school communities. She is passionate about supporting both academic achievement and social-emotional growth and is committed to building school cultures where every child feels safe, included, and empowered to reach their full potential.
