Enumclaw School District invites families and community members to attend the Sunrise Elementary Principal Interviews on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 5:00–6:00 PM. This is a valuable opportunity to meet the two finalists and provide input as we select the next leader for Sunrise Elementary.
The interviews will take place in person at the Sunrise Gym, located at:
899 Osceola at 244th Avenue SE, Enumclaw, WA 98022.
Meet the Candidates:
Ashley Ferguson – Elementary Principal Applicant
Ashley Ferguson is a passionate and experienced school leader committed to fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments where every child can thrive. Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Centennial Elementary in the Bethel School District, Ashley brings over a decade of experience in education, including roles as teacher, instructional leader, and administrator.
Her leadership is grounded in equity, collaboration, and data-informed decision-making. She has led school-wide initiatives around Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and professional learning communities (PLCs). In addition she has designed and implemented tiered systems for behavior and academic support, facilitated district-wide leadership development for assistant principals, and partnered with the Pierce County Juvenile Justice System through Community Engagement Boards to support student attendance and success.
Ashley has served in the Bethel School District since 2017 in a range of roles, including classroom teacher, associate administrator, summer school administrator, and assistant principal. Prior to that, she taught in the Muscogee County School District. As a teacher, Ashley served as a PLC lead, Tier I and II PBIS discipline team leader, district-level ELA and math leader, and a presenter at the Northwest PBIS Conference in 2019, where she shared her expertise in building positive school cultures and systems of support.
She holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Western Governors University, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Colorado Christian University, and earned her Principal Certification through City University of Seattle.
Ashley is excited about the opportunity to serve the Sunrise Elementary community and contribute to the Enumclaw School District’s mission of inspiring students to learn, lead, and make a difference.
Leonard (Lenny) Holloman – Elementary Principal Applicant
Lenny Holloman is a veteran school leader with over two decades of experience in public education, including 19 years as a principal across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Currently serving as principal of Willow Crest Elementary in the Auburn School District, Mr. Holloman has been instrumental in the planning, opening, and leadership of new school sites and in advancing school improvement initiatives closely aligned with district strategic plans.
Throughout his 25-year tenure in the Auburn School District, Mr. Holloman has served at Rainier Middle School, Chinook Elementary, West Auburn High School, Gildo Rey Elementary, and Willow Crest Elementary. His leadership has been marked by a commitment to high academic expectations, inclusive practices, and strong community partnerships. Under his leadership, Gildo Rey Elementary earned the prestigious 2018 National ESEA Distinguished Schools Award; one of only two Washington state schools to do so that year.
Mr. Holloman’s impact extends beyond the school building. He has served on numerous district and state-level committees, including the Auburn School District Strategic Planning Committee and the Washington Association for Learning Alternatives Board, and has presented to the State Senate Committee on Education. He is also a U.S. Navy veteran and active community volunteer, with a longstanding commitment to civic engagement and student-centered leadership.
Mr. Holloman holds a Master of Education in School Administration and Principal Certification from City University and is currently certified as both a P-12 Principal, Superintendent in Washington State, and K-12 Physical Education and Health. He brings with him deep experience in staff supervision, instructional leadership, diversity and equity initiatives, and family engagement.
Known for his approachable leadership style and dedication to serving every student, Mr. Holloman is excited about the opportunity to bring his passion, experience, and vision to the community of Sunrise Elementary and the Enumclaw School District.
