ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS

Enumclaw School District is proud to offer students the opportunity to participate in a number of clubs and activities.  If you are interested in participating in one or more of our clubs and activities be sure to contact the Activities Office or Activities Coordinator at your school.

Student participation in clubs can hone communication skills, foster creative thinking, and teach how to work effectively with other people. Your extracurricular involvement is one of the few ways that colleges, employers, scholarship committees and others can gain insights into your personality. Because extracurriculars can take a lot of time—and because your time in high school is precious—you’ll want to be strategic about which clubs to join.

HOW IMPORTANT ARE SCHOOL CLUBS?

They can prove very consequential. If you take on increasing responsibility and achieve success, your extracurricular involvement will not only help you get into college or find your dream job—it could even help you pay for college, earn an apprenticeship, or a career placement you have always wanted! Ultimately, school clubs are as important as you make them.

HOW CAN AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS HELP?

School clubs can benefit students in many ways:

  • provide a common interest group to make and cultivate friendships

  • provide a path to future career opportunities

  • provide a signal to colleges about what you are interested in

  • provide a path to leadership within an organization

  • provide a low-risk way to "test" a fledgling interest in a topic

  • provide a structure to start your own club

CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE JOINING A CLUB

DO

  • Do join a club because you are interested in the topic or mission

  • Do join a club to test out your leadership abilities

  • Do join a club to create a "path of interest" for colleges, career opportunities, or the military

  • Do start a club to show initiative and resourcefulness

DON'T

  • Don't join a club because you think it "will look good on your resume"

  • Don't overcommit to too many clubs at once

  • Don't wait until junior or senior year to join a club

  • Don't join a club and then not engage in the activities and events

GETTING INVOLVED AT EHS, EMS, or TMMS

Most students at each of our schools are involved in clubs or athletics.  Activities help build our school community and allow students to explore their interests while developing their leadership skills. We encourage all students to find something that they are interested in and then try to stick with it for several years. Be sure to click on the following link that matches your current school. Take the time to visit with the club adviser to find out more information about the club and how to join.  Get involved at your school and make a difference in our schools and community!
